Marketing Data

Provalytics ingests daily aggregated marketing data at its most granular level.

All marketing data is provided to Provalytics via secure data transfer in a single CSV file.

The file requirements are as follows:

  1. Multiple media types: All marketing data is in one file. If you're measuring across digital and traditional, it still all goes in a single file.
  2. Brand Search & Affiliate Channels: Both branded search and affiliates both work to fill your funnel, but also uniquely guide users who are already in the sales funnel. Be certain that both channel name are uniquely identified and you have told your Provalytics account manager the names of each.
  3. Fields: File fields are as follows:
    1. Date: MM/DD/YY format
    2. Impressions: impression count
    3. Clicks: click count (if available)
    4. Cost: spend
    5. Channel: name of the marketing channel, with branded search & affiliates uniquely identified
    6. Channel Level 2: 2nd level hierarchy
    7. Channel Level 3: 3rd level hierarchy
    8. Channel Level 4: 4th level hierarchy (optional)
  4. Headers:
    1. Required file headers are as follows:
      1. Date
      2. Impressions
      3. Clicks
      4. Cost
    2. For Channel and Channel Level 2 -4
      1. Headers utilized will be translated to report
      2. Use names that you would like to see in your reporting
  5. File name: The file name is comprised of 3 components separated by underscores as follows:

      • marketing: identifies the file type and should always start with marketing
      • XXX: your assigned Provalytics Client ID
      • YYYY-MM-DD: file upload date


  • File type: CSV without UTF-8. Note that Excel will prompt saving CSV in UTF-8 format, which allows special characters. Provalytics requires saving all files as a regular CSV without UTF-8 format as shown below.


For example:

  • Provalytics Client ID: '999'
  • Upload Date: 'December 30, 2024'
